STRATEGIC RESPONSIBILITIES 1) Develop and drive marketing strategies to increase enrollment and position the college for state and national recognition. 2) Serve as chief spokesperson for the college to develop strategic messaging and proactively seek positive media coverage for the College. 3) Participate in and serve as a member of the President's cabinet in order to provide support and advisement to the President on key strategic marketing and communications related matters. 4) Collaborate with the President's Office to advance Presidential platform and executive communication by delivering speech writing, editorial copyright and public relations materials. 5) Help manage relationships with the college's external advertising agency, and formulate and direct college's message and image. Oversees production of college's television, radio, and print advertisements. 6) Contribute to the development and implementation of the college's strategic planning goals, mission statement and vision/values statement. 7) Represent the college before a variety of external community organizations. Give presentations about college to a variety of external groups. Meet with key community opinion leaders on a regular basis to further the college's image and position. 8) Develop and implement internal organizational capability in communications, as well as assist departments in creating and executing communication plans. 9) Build strong relationships with peer marketing and communications officers and related organizations to keep informed regarding trends, research and best practices. OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1) Oversee production of marketing materials and both internal and external events, such as news conferences, groundbreakings, ribbon-cuttings, political debates, employee appreciation, community forums, etc. 2) Attend and/or chair college committees and maintain responsibility for being an active part of the campus community. 3) Participate in both the college and the department budget planning, monitor department spending and approve expenditures according to annual spending plan and prepare budget reports as needed. 4) Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and records. 5) Keep current with industry trends by reading news periodicals, trade publications, magazines, articles, and web sites in order to anticipate issues that may impact the college, education, and community. Required education/experience Minimum qualifications for this position are a bachelor's degree, with a master's degree preferred, as well as substantial experience with a proven track record of progressive career growth as an executive marketing, communications and/or public relations professional. The successful candidate will be a visionary leader who also has a solid operational knowledge of, and demonstrated success in, leading and managing marketing, internal and external communications, media and public relations, community and government relations, creative writing, special events production and publications. The ability to innovate in the face of current issues and future trends facing higher education is critical.
