Join the Academic and Career Advising team supporting student transitions from opening day of Orientation through graduation and beyond. As a member of this dynamic team the Associate Director needs to be an experienced leader and an accomplished career advisor. This position will model the skill of openness for innovation and new ideas in response to a rapidly changing organization and profession. Academic and Career Advising is located within the Division of Student Affairs at Keene State College. This position reports to the Director of Academic and Career Advising. The Associate Director will assist the Director in identifying and implementing current and future directions for the office and provide individual and group career advising and guidance. This position will coordinate with other campus constituents around experiential learning opportunities including internships. Responsibilities include: • Supervise career advising staff and, in the absence of the Director, oversee operations including all staff supervision; • Advise students on their educational and career goals; • Identify the most current and effective trends and practices in career preparation and success; • Provide support for faculty in the areas of mentoring and career preparation for students; • Facilitate campus conversations in order to develop institutional approaches and metrics for student career preparation and success; • Develop and maintain materials to support career planning for the entire college population through various mediums; • Provide materials and training to a variety of constituents to support their efforts in effective career conversations; • Coordinate the delivery of programs in support of current students, alumni and area employers/agencies with an emphasis on career development; • Encourage staff to take on new opportunities and offer necessary support and guidance; • Represent Keene State College to the community and state bodies including Trustees, USNH and NHCUC. Qualifications Required: Master’s degree in education, career development, counseling, student development or related areas and minimum of 4 years of experience in academic or career advising; supervisory experience; demonstrated ability to deliver career services to a college population; evidence of faculty collaborations around career advising; ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, employers and other community constituents; proven oral and written communication skills; ability to work occasional nights and weekends; valid driver’s license. Additional Desirable Qualifications: Knowledge of trends in academic and career advising; creative and capable use of social media and knowledge of developments in technology-based services; ability to develop tools to accurately assess services and outcomes; innovation and resourcefulness; familiarity with issues around transition to work. Starting salary range: $46,750-$53,040; complemented by a generous benefit package.
