Primary Function of Organization Unit: Campus Life (University Housing and Greek Life), consistent with the academic mission of the University, strives to create positive growth environments for students by providing programs, services, and facilities that promote educational, social and cultural development to approximately 10,000 students living on the NC State campus.

Essential Job Duties: Director for Business Administration Campus Life Immediate Supervisor: Vice Provost for Campus Life Job Description: This position serves as the Director for Business Administration for Campus Life (University Housing and Greek Life) and provides leadership and oversight in the areas of Finance, Facilities, and Information Systems for the departments. The Director serves as a member of the financial team for the Division of Academic and Student Affairs and will be responsible for the following areas: FINANCE Financial Planning and Analysis * Coordinates financial planning for Campus Life of an annual budget of approximately $50 million in mostly receipt funds * Develops, manages, and maintains a comprehensive, integrated ten-year financial and facilities plan * Works with the University Treasurer in seeking financing for major capital projects * Continually develops and assesses financing strategies in relation to analyzing debt capacity and retirement * Establishes and manages auditing of all financial operations * Oversees contract management including lease administration Budget Management and Development * Oversees consolidated and decentralized budget development * Produces continual assessment of internal financial processes and procedures to evaluate efficiency and accuracy * Manages purchasing contracts * Oversees departmental Accounts Payable and Receivable operations FACILITIES Facilities Management and Development * Responsible for the operation and maintenance of an estimated 3M square feet of residential space in 72 buildings across campus * Provides leadership in the planning, design, and implementation phases of all renovation and new construction projects * Oversees the development of purchasing specifications for departmental furniture, goods and services * Reconciles all facilities related purchases that are made within the Department * Manages a budget of approximately $2.5M for the Facilities and the Warehouse areas * Provides oversight of departmental safety operations to ensure compliance * Interacts with architects, engineers, and contractors related to renovation and construction projects INFORMATION SYSTEMS * Provides leadership in the management of a wide variety of complex information systems for Campus Life, including client/server systems such as the Housing assignments system through the Student Information System, University Apartments, and the judicial system, as well as web based applications that interact with these systems * Oversees web development and presence * Oversees support of two third party applications (TMA and Conference Programmer) * Actively involved in planning, purchasing, and coordinating installation of computer equipment and software in offices, residential classrooms, and lounges * Maintains a cooperative working relationship with campus service providers such as Enterprise Technology Solutions and Services, Enterprise Applications Database and Services, ResNet, and ComTech, coordinating the administration of the local area network, database servers and providing hardware and software support for 140 accounts * Involved in the planning and implementation of video cameras and card access within residential areas, as well as duress systems (panic buttons) within Campus Life's central office and critical staff offices located in the residence halls OVERALL Leadership and Supervision * Oversees a staff of: -over 40 facilities staff including a professional engineer, plant superintendents, trades staff (carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC), laborers, accounting and purchasing, warehouse operations, pest control, upholstery, and administrative support -3 finance staff including an Accountant and 2 Accounting Technicians -4 information systems staff including a Technology Support Analyst, Web Developer, Business and Technology Analyst, and Technology Support Technician * Serves as a member of the departmental leadership team Partnership * Develops and maintains partnerships with the University's Facilities Division, Real Estate, General Counsel, Budget Office, Internal Audit Division, as well as state and local officials * Serves on various University-wide teams and committees * Develops and maintains active involvement in professional associations * Maintains open channels of communication with internal and external clients Training and Teaching * Coordinates and/or presents training for management and staff on topics related to the areas of facilities, finance, and information systems * Teaches a one-semester Resident Advisor course, Topics in Student Development

Minimum Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree with at least ten years relevant experience in facilities management, accounting, business administration, information systems or related field.

Department Required Skills : Demonstrated leadership skills in facilities management and development, financial analysis and budget management, and information systems management. Long term planning and staff supervision experience required.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Master's degree and experience working in a higher education environment strongly preferred.
