Position Summary: The Director of Development will expand the successful fundraising program for UNC Cardiovascular Medicine, a top fundraising priority for the UNC School of Medicine and UNC Health Care for the upcoming University-wide campaign. With a focus on principal and major gift fundraising, the Director will work in conjunction with the Cardiology Division Chief, Medical Foundation President, Medical Foundation Director of Principal Gifts and Cardiology Advisory Board members to develop strategies to cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects for both outright and planned gifts. In addition, the Director will oversee annual giving plans, the development of special events and other strategies as determined by the fundraising team. Evening and weekend work is a required part of the position.

Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree required.

Qualification and Experience: Requires: 1. 5 years experience in major gift fundraising or closely related fields. 2. Strong verbal and written communications skills. 3. Excellent organizational skills. 4. Excellent interpersonal skills and judgment. 5. Attention to detail and accuracy. Recommended: 1. Medical school or medical center experience. 2. Creativity, and problem-solving capabilities. 3. Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel. 4. Experience using wealth screening tools.
