About The Unit: The Office of College Aid is available year-round to assist students and families in making a world-class University of Chicago education affordable. We follow federal, state and university policies to allow our students to achieve and exceed their educational goals.

Unit Job Summary: Financial Aid Advisor: Counsels students and parents about aid applications, policies, procedures, and availability of aid; enters aid application information in the electronic tracking system; proofs award letters; notifies students of outside scholarship checks that require signatures; disburses foreign student stipend checks; reviews incoming documents; assists with special projects (e.g., sends verification and database match notices to students; tracks endowed and restricted fund expenditures, etc.)

Unit Education: Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree preferred.

Unit Experience: Two years of experience in a position involving extensive contact with the public/customer service, required. One year of experience in a financial aid office setting as a financial aid counselor, preferred.

Unit Job Function Competencies: Knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding eligibility for government funded assistance required. Ability to communicate accounting and financial information clearly and concisely required.
