 Applications are invited for a neurosurgeon to lead an academic Division of Neurosurgery at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC), at the University of Toronto.

The qualified applicant shall have an academic focus and an established research program, preferably in the area of acute Traumatic Brain Injury and be a candidate for appointment at the Sunnybrook Research Institute (SRI). SRI is one of the fastest growing hospital-based research enterprises in Canada with well-established programs in basic and applied research. The SRI conducts $100 million in research each year, in 500,000 sq. ft. of infrastructure, developing innovations in care for more than 1 million patients annually.

The applicant shall hold a Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent and, should hold, or be eligible for licensure in the province of Ontario. The qualified applicant should be eligible for an academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or above in the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. Opportunities exist for cross-appointment in the Department of Critical Care Medicine for applicants with appropriate neuro-critical care training. Evidence of excellence in teaching and research is required.

SHSC is the largest Level 1 adult trauma centre in Canada and provides trauma care services to South Central Ontario with a catchment area of over 6 million people. It is a fully affiliated academic health sciences facility of the University of Toronto, ranked in the top 20 Universities worldwide. SHSC is he home to one of the University's three Academies for undergraduate education and has an international reputation for clinical and research excellence.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
