Position Summary:

The Department Chair is a full-time academic administrator who reports to the Executive Director, and provides leadership and long-term planning in the International Psychology Department. The Chair supervises faculty and administrative staff, evaluates curriculum, oversees student-oriented activities, and manages the International Psychology department budget. The Chair works with the Executive Director to ensure that departmental programs are aligned with the mission and strategic goals of TCSPP.  Strong leadership skills, flexibility, creative problem solving skills and a strong commitment to the profession are essential requirements for this position.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the quality and integrity of program curricula to reflect  TCSPP standards and maintain the highest levels of accreditation
  • Supervise faculty teaching, advising, committee work, and dissertation supervision within the department
  • Supervise program staff
  • Manage and administer the departmental budget to accomplish program goals
  • Lead faculty development and support faculty scholarship
  • Manage program academic assessment and evaluation processes
  • Work with the department of Student Services and Registrar to manage essential academic record functions
  • Supervise the program admissions committee and enrollment team
  • Develop and maintain community among faculty, staff, and students within the department
  • Fulfill teaching, advising, and committee service duties as needed
  • Balance program needs with institutional priorities and initiatives
  • Create an environment for inclusive diversity


Position Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in Psychology or related discipline
  • Experience with academic accreditation and assessment
  • Five to seven years of graduate teaching and advising experience
  • Experience in faculty/staff development, supervision, evaluation, and academic program management
  • Record of intellectual and professional contributions to the field of international psychology
  • Experience advocating for the learning needs of diverse students and innovative teaching strategies
  • Commitment to the recruitment, retention, and development of a diverse faculty body
  • Excellent leadership, communication, team, and human relations skills
  • Two or more years’ experience working as a psychologist in the international arena
  • Experience in chairing or serving on dissertation and thesis committees
