Assistant to Director and Department Administrator Clark University seeks an experienced and well-organized individual to provide administrative support to the Director of the Graduate School of Geography and to manage the day-to-day operations of the Graduate School of Geography. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: direct supervision of 3 full-time staff members; management and oversight of departmental budgets, including the Geography operating budget and all Geography endowment and special accounts; staffing of Geography faculty review committees, and faculty search committees; participation on departmental committees; participation in bi-weekly meetings of the Director, Associate Director, Graduate Program Administrator, and CUGS (graduate student organization) representatives to discuss arising issues, departmental business and events; coordination (with Director) of scheduling all Geography departmental meetings and of the yearly Departmental Retreat; support for graduate students; tracking of and reimbursement to graduate students completing the consortium teaching seminar required for teaching stand-alone courses; and preparation of part-time teaching contracts for graduate students covering courses for the department. Applicants should have 5+ years office experience in a similar setting or related work; top-notch communication skills; the ability to maintain confidentiality and represent the department in a professional manner; the ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff. He/she needs solid word processing skills; ability to track budgets in Excel and our database (knowledge of Banner a plus). He/she also needs the ability or willingness to learn Adobe Sharepoint, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro, ACALOG for online academic catalogue, and SmartBuyPlus for purchasing.
