A Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology, Nutrition, Exercise Science or a related field and two years of professional experience in a recreation or fitness setting.
Experience supervising a group exercise program.
Possess at least one of the following certifications in Group Exercise: ACE, AFAA, NASM, or other nationally recognized organization.
Current certification or ability to become certified as an American Red Cross CPR Instructor, American Red Cross First Aid Instructor, and in Mad Dog Spinning within six months of hire.
Background Check Requirements
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check to include fingerprinting.
Master's degree in Exercise Science, Nutrition, Exercise Physiology or related field.
Evidence of strong leadership, mentoring and student development skills in theory and practice.
Experience with employee scheduling and developing/maintaining an up to date group fitness schedule.
Collegiate or comparable experience leading/inspiring various levels of student staff.
Experience in development and management of a budget.
Experience with assessment efforts and data analysis.
Note: Final candidates will be required to provide a video presentation leading a group exercise class during the interview process.
Coordinates, supervises and evaluates a comprehensive group fitness program for the FSU population, to include the Leach, Fitness and Movement Clinic and outreach opportunities. Develops and coordinates planning, marketing and implementation of Small Group Training programs to generate funding for the program. Group Training will consist of, but are not limited to: Outdoor TRX Circuits, PT Studio Circuit Training, Indoboard Yoga, Paddle Board Yoga, Private Yoga and outreach opportunities to the university community.
Recruits,hires, trains, schedules, supervises and evaluates group fitness instructors and small group training instructors.
Develops and coordinates planning, marketing and implementation of diversified group fitness programs including, but not limited to: following trends in group exercise programming, offering a diverse line-up of classes to meet varying populations, instructional seminars, workshops and non-credit instruction.
Develops and administers annual budget preparation, reports annual report statistics and sets learning outcomes and assessment for the group fitness program. Maintains and compiles data on program for purpose of analysis, evaluation and appropriate record keeping.
Acts as a risk manager for their area and reviews and evaluates studios, equipment, chemicals and preventive maintenance and task lists for the program. Evaluates and recommends for purchase group exercise equipment, materials and supplies to meet program needs.
This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.
