The University of North Alabama is accepting applications for the position of Director of the First-Year Experience Program. UNA's new First-Year Experience program is built around three terms: ORIENT, DEVELOP, and EXPLORE. The program orients students to UNA and the Shoals community; helps them develop their essential academic, study, and personal management skills, and encourages their exploration of career and/or major options. The Director of UNA's First-Year Experience program is responsible for the administration of all aspects of the First-Year Experience program, including planning, marketing, development, implementation, and assessment. The Director is a highly collaborative person who also assists with retention initiatives and SOAR orientation programming. This is a 12-month staff position reporting to the Director of the University Success Center, under the Vice President for Enrollment Management. Essential job duties include: Administer the UNA First-Year Experience program, including Learning Community seminars and retention software; Design and develop new program components in collaboration with university stakeholders; Encourage ongoing faculty, administrative, and community buy-in to the FYE program; Manage ongoing recruitment, hiring, training, and review of FYE personnel, including Learning Community instructors, etc.; Review and evaluate all program aspects on at least an annual basis; Report on program success, growth, and needs on at least an annual basis; Develop and implement a long-term vision for the growth of the program. This position will remain open until April 15, 2014, however applications submitted by March 31, 2014 will be given priority. Minimum qualifications include: Master's level degree in Student Affairs or a related field required; Two years of experience in the development and delivery of first year student services and programs in a post-secondary setting required.
