RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will work with the architecture, design, documentation, and development of leading edge web-based technologies in a dynamic and technology-rich environment.  The candidate will work with a team of developers to create custom web-based and/or mobile applications for clients.  The position involves a great deal of creativity, initiative, and high level of independent judgment to oversee the development of unique technology environments.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Entry-level knowledge and experience in the following areas: object-oriented programming, SQL, HTML, and other programming techniques.   The successful candidate will also have excellent verbal and written communication skills. A background check is required for the successful candidate. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or two years of professional experience is preferred. Applicants with previous experience in Java web application development will be given preference.  An applicant with the following knowledge is a plus: JEE, Struts framework, JavaScript, Spring framework, Hibernate framework, MyBATIS framework, mobile development (Android or iOS), or data warehousing.   Ant, Maven, database design and web services knowledge are also a plus

THE DEPARTMENT: The Center for the Application of Information Technologies' (CAIT) mission is to develop, deploy, and support online learning systems and applications for educational entities, businesses, public agencies, and not-for-profit organizations.  Additionally, CAIT promotes the on-going development of professional skill-sets and/or educational attainment for all staff members.  Operating within the University environment, the atmosphere at CAIT is one of innovation and experimentation and with direct application to deployed projects and systems.

WIU-Macomb, IL (Student Population: 10,003): A traditional, residential four-year campus with select graduate programs, WIU-Macomb is located in the heart of west central Illinois in Macomb (population 20,000). Macomb is an Amtrak city with twice-daily service to Chicago. Macomb is located approximately 75 miles from the Quad Cities International Airport (Moline, IL) and 70 miles from the Greater Peoria Regional Airport (Peoria, IL).

WIU-Quad Cities (Student Population: 1,204): The only public university in the Quad Cities area, WIU-QC offers select undergraduate and graduate programs, including a doctorate in education, at its metropolitan, non-residential campuses in Moline, IL (population 44,000). The Quad Cities (population 376,000) rests on the banks of the Mississippi River and is comprised of Moline and Rock Island in western Illinois and Davenport and Bettendorf in eastern Iowa. Moline, Illinois is home to the Quad Cities International Airport.
