The newly created Hospitality and Learning Center, the brand new $12 million, 12.5-acre Athletic Complex, the $60 million dollar Aerospace Engineering Sciences Building, and the newly completed Student Success Building are examples of the myriad of programs and partnerships by which the University is enriching Metro Denver and the Colorado community. This key position will report to both the Chair of the MSU Denver Foundation Board and to the President of MSU Denver, and will serve as a member of the President’s Cabinet. As President & CEO of the Foundation, the selected executive will have a direct working relationship with the Foundation Board of Directors, providing assistance, expertise and administrative support to the Board and volunteers and assisting in the coordination of Board activities. The President & CEO will play a key role in the development and implementation of a comprehensive fund raising program that works in collaboration with the President of MSU Denver and the University’s strategic plan. As the Vice President for University Advancement this executive will provide leadership in the planning and directing of all philanthropic initiatives for the University, including major and annual gifts, corporate, foundation, private endowment development, grants, as well as in the administration of alumni programs and operations. The selected executive will counsel the President and work with other University executive officers in a team capacity to develop and implement institutional advancement strategies in accordance with the University’s strategic plan. The Foundation President & CEO and Vice President for University Advancement is expected to bring a career track of progressive, documentable accomplishments in driving impact, outcomes, and success with proven experience in identifying, cultivating, and closing six-figure to multi-million dollar gifts and contributions. This highly innovative leader must demonstrate advanced knowledge of fund raising principles and practices, yet be able to bring a diverse strategy that encompasses inventive models of funding to leverage a variety of demographics, geographies, business partnership approaches and national/global resources, in addition to personal philanthropy. The Foundation President & CEO and Vice President for University Advancement must have the capacity to inspire passionate commitment and provide visionary leadership for fund raising efforts, direct successful capital campaigns, and oversee the progressive growth of an alumni giving and major donor development program in a multicultural environment. An undergraduate degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred. Active and long-term leadership in professional organizations, civic organizations, personal relationships with executive-level colleagues, and a record of success as a business executive with exposure to a diversity of industry sectors and international or healthcare fund raising is desirable.
