Posting Description: *Department Information:* The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering is a world-class department with 27 faculty, 60 postdoctoral research associates and technicians, 128 graduate students, and more than 650 undergraduate students. Our research program is extremely active, including research centers in biorefining and biofuels, membranes, pharmaceutical biotechnology, and photopolymerization. Research funding awarded to the department for fiscal year 2013 totaled over $13 million. The department moved to the new Jennie Smoly Caruthers Biotechnology Building on East Campus in Spring 2012. This collaborative environment is also home to the BioFrontiers Institute and Division of Biochemistry and is in close proximity to national labs (NREL, NIST, NCAR, NOAA) which enables us to continue supporting cutting edge research and teaching that will help us recruit the best students, staff and faculty, and maintain our status as a top Chemical and Biological Engineering program. *Job Responsibilities:* The Financial Manager is an integral part of the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department providing financial management for the department. Reporting to the Department Chair, this position: * Manages all day-to-day and month-to-month budgetary and accounting matters and assists the Chair with annual budget development and implementation * Requires a strong knowledge of accounting and budgeting in all funds (general, auxiliary, gift, grant, and plant) as well as an understanding of the CU Foundation accounting system. * Creates and maintains customized financial reporting tools and is responsible for the development and implementation of the financial evaluation processes of the department and support program accounts * Provides budgetary and planning support to the Chair and monitors departmental and grant compliance with fiscal regulations and policies * Must work cooperatively with other offices and departments on campus (SPA,OCG, PSC, etc.). *Salary and Benefits:* The anticipated salary range for this position is $48,000-$58,000, commensurate with skills and experience. Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree, or higher, in accounting, finance, or related field from an accredited university and 2 years of accounting, finance, or related experience.
Required Competencies/Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Demonstrated effectiveness in written and oral communications, collaboration and problem solving. * Demonstrated understanding and application of internal accounting control principles. * High-level computer skill proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Word and Excel) and databases.
Desired Qualifications: _Preferred qualifications may be used to further reduce the pool of applicants to those who are most highly qualified._ * Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Finance and HR. * Five years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, finance, and/or business administration in a complex environment that includes budgetary responsibilities. * Knowledge of administrative, budgetary, and fiscal principles and practices in a higher education environment, including budgeting and fund accounting.
