Job Description Summary/Essential Duties:

Provides work involving design, installation, extension, maintenance, and repair of irrigation and pumping systems and other grounds related work involving the maintenance of landscape. Performs preventative maintenance procedures on irrigation systems and pump stations. Requisitions and maintains inventory of parts needed for irrigation system maintenance and expansions. Maintains related records and drawings. Troubleshoots low voltage irrigation electrical systems, irrigation valve malfunctions, basic irrigation pump station malfunctions and basic irrigation time clock malfunctions. Installs, maintains, repairs, and designs all irrigation systems that address water conservation requirements according and/or issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental quality.
Reviews bids and makes recommendations; assists in the design and layout of new major irrigation systems. Plans and supervises the use of assigned staff and equipment of projects. Ensures work is performed and ensures completion in accordance with state and local codes. Responsible for operating and maintaining equipment utilized both for irrigation and grounds related functions. Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

Works may involve moving or lifting equipment up to 50 pounds which requires physical strength sufficient to do manual labor under varying weather conditions.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from high school or equivalency and two years of experience in irrigation system maintenance and installation. Six hours of CAD drafting courses or one year of CAD drafting experience preferred. Ability to utilize computer technology to manage related software systems, gather data, generate reports, and communicate with others. Oral and written communication skills in order to effectively interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Strong knowledge and experience providing effective customer service. Must possess a current Texas irrigation license. Valid Texas driver’s license required. *Will be subject to a criminal background check.*
