The department of School Psychology, Counseling, and Leadership (SPCL) at Brooklyn College is accepting applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor for our CACREP accredited School Counseling Program for fall 2014. All appointments are subject to financial availability.

Candidates are expected to teach graduate level school counseling courses; supervise students in field experiences; advise students; pursue scholarship and a research agenda; participate in curriculum and program development; collaborate with school and agency partners; and serve on department and university committees.

The Brooklyn College School Counseling Program prepares a carefully selected and qualified, ethnically and culturally diverse body of students to serve as culturally competent, caring, and ethnically responsible K-12 school counselors within our urban educational region. We strive to prepare our graduates to advocate for each and every student to receive the highest quality education and to promote the development of their academic, emotional, social, physical, and spiritual well-being.


Doctorate in counselor education (CACREP accredited), counseling, or related field required. ABD considered. Experience in graduate teaching and scholarship with a focus on urban schools and diverse communities strongly preferred. Counseling experience in schools or community settings preferred. Knowledge of current national counselor training standards


$61,903 - $74,133; commensurate with experience and credentials.
