Columbus State University has an opening for a part-time Program Coordinator with the English Language Institute (ELI), part of the Department of Continuing Education at the Elizabeth Bradley Turner Center. This position will report to the ELI Program Coordinator and is primarily responsible for recruiting, budgeting, planning, and operating the Immersion Excursion programs. Immersion Excursions are two or three week visits by international university students. Students spend mornings in class learning English as a Second Language and spend afternoons, evenings, and weekends on excursions, to include local and regional attractions. This program is designed to immerse students in the English language and increase the American cultural experience. The selected candidate will be responsible for contacting and recruiting international universities to develop Immersion Excursion programs; provide detailed planning, logistical organization, and development of quality programs to include classes, lectures, excursions, meals, staffing, transportation, and accommodations; create budgets and tracking of all expenses for individual programs; recruit and maintain instructors and lecturers; budget and analyze financial data; collaborate with the departmental Marketing Manager and supervisor to create a cohesive marketing plan; and manage the daily operations of Immersion Excursion program during international student visits. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree with one year experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience; and two years’ experience with international students. The successful candidate must be customer-oriented with a desire to focus on anticipating the needs of international students to improve products and services; possess the ability to build positive working relationships with internal and external groups; proficiency in web navigation and MS Office programs, to include Microsoft Project; strong writing and oral communication skills; strong organizational and problem solving skills; the ability to multi-task efficiently with excellent time management skills; the ability to effectively make sound decisions for the good of the students and the institution; and the ability to budget, track, and report financial performance. One year of project management experience is preferred. The salary is commensurate with education and experience. This position requires a flexible schedule. The selected candidate must be able to work 40 plus hours per week while Immersion Excursions are in session. Otherwise, flexible hours, to include some evenings and weekends may be required.
