Head of Public, Faculty, and Student Services
THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH DAKOTA SCHOOL OF LAW seeks a dynamic, innovative, and service-oriented leader to serve in the position of Head of Public, Faculty and Student Services. The incumbent will support the mission of the Law Library by providing research instruction, circulation and reference services to support the teaching, scholarship, research, and service endeavors of the University of South Dakota School of Law students and faculty as well as the South Dakota legal community. Duties in this position will continue to evolve over time as the library continues to focus on how best to meet the changing demands of our users. Duties may include, but are not limited to: - Provision of a wide range of reference and research assistance to a diverse group of library users - Under the supervision of the Law Library Director, developing policies regarding the circulation of materials and the provision of services to students, faculty, and attorney, and public patrons. - Developing legal research curriculum and assessment tools and providing legal research and legal technology use throughout the Law School curriculum Minimum Qualifications: - J.D. from an ABA accredited law school; - M.L.S. or equivalent degree from an ALA accredited program; - and a minimum of one year of experience in a law library. Preferred Qualifications: - the ability to respond flexibly to changing institutional needs; - strong communication skills; - supervisory experience, either in a library or other environment - familiarity with information and educational technologies and evolving social media outlets; - classroom teaching experience; - and a commitment to supporting the research needs of the School of Law faculty and improving the research skills of law students through the introduction of innovative instructional techniques.
