FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The English Department of the City College (CCNY) of the City University of New York (CUNY) announces a search for a tenure-track assistant professor of Modernism. We seek candidates whose research focuses on and also expands British and/or American literary modernism with a global perspective. The position begins Fall 2014.

One of our nation's greatest democratic experiments, The City College of New York was conceived in 1847 to educate "the children of the whole people." Since its founding, it has provided free or low-cost, high-quality education in a wide variety of disciplines, producing more Nobel laureates than any other public institution in the United States. Set on a striking 35-acre hilltop campus in upper Manhattan, CCNY enrolls each year more than 16,000 students who pursue undergraduate and graduate degrees in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; the Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture; the School of Education; the Grove School of Engineering; the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education; and the Colin L. Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum qualifications include Ph.D. in hand by September 2014; evidence of a serious commitment to scholarship; record of outstanding teaching; and commitment to teaching, research, and service.

COMPENSATION

Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
