Dean of Health and Human Services
Heartland Community College invites applicants for the full-time administrative position of Dean of Health and Human Services. Position is anticipated to begin July 1, 2014. The Dean is responsible for the maintenance of educational and organizational quality through direct supervision of faculty and office support staff, currently composed of a full-time faculty of 15, a part-time faculty of 30, two secretarial support positions and the director of the Child Development Lab. Related major responsibilities include the coordination of instructional support, budget management, scheduling, staffing, evaluation, strategic planning, student appeals and concerns, and course and program development. Academic areas in the division include criminal justice studies, early childhood education, education, emergency medical services, health, nursing, physical therapy assistant program, radiography, and social work.
A minimum of a master’s degree in a discipline within the division, effective communication strategies, demonstrated management and organizational skills, and the ability to work well both independently and in a team environment required. Appropriate experience in higher education, including teaching experience, a record of effective leadership, and relevant business or industry experience desired.
