Job Description Summary/Essential Duties:

Responsible for developing and implementing programs related to conservation of energy resources and improving the effectiveness of energy consumption for the DCCCD. Responsible for the analysis of existing and the planning of new electrical systems for the District. Provides technical assistance to Directors of Facilities Engineering and Associate Vice Chancellor of Facilities Management/District Architect in sustainability, energy and electrical projects. Develops and maintains a comprehensive sustainability and Energy Conservation Plan for short, intermediate, and long-range goals for the DCCCD. Sustainability and Energy Conservation Plan shall include deregulation strategies. Prepares technical review of consultants plans and specifications for new and renovated facilities for energy efficiency and conservation compliance. Reviews and verifies utility bills. Assists in developing and revising utility budgets. Prepares annual energy reports which include quantitative improvements in energy consumption. Provides technical assistance to the College Directors of Facilities for electrical system upgrades and expansions, energy conservation projects, and equipment replacements. Identifies and analyzes alternative energy conservation projects and programs for implementation. Monitors budget expenditures. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering plus three years of experience in facilities operations and energy management, may be engineer in training or registered engineer with five years of experience in facilities operations and energy management. Ability to review and evaluate problems and recommend cost effective solutions. Ability to develop and manage operating budgets. Ability to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports and communicate with others. Technical writing and oral communication skills which support interaction with varying levels of DCCCD employees, consultants, contracts and external agencies. Strong knowledge and experience in providing effective customer service. Official transcripts will be required. * Will be subject to a criminal background check.*
