Job Description Summary/Essential Duties:

Provides instruction of occupational skills in a classroom setting or in electronic formats. Teaches occupational skills which will prepare students for employment. Works closely with students and faculty in classroom settings or in electronic formats. Develops competency-based curriculum and other instructional materials. Responsible for mail-out of assignments and/or resources to students specifically for students taking on-line courses. Maintains accurate student and other records as required by law and the Board of Trustees and Administrative Procedures Manual. Assists instructor through selection of tests from test banks, typing of tests, administration of exams, and recording grades (on grade rolls or online). Enforces student policies. Ensures that students attain all relevant information as it relates to the subject area via email, telephone, mail-outs, personal interaction, etc. Conducts student orientations and provides students with written course expectations and evaluations. Assist in job placement of job-ready students. May have individual student counseling assignments. Provides assistance ordering, receiving, and storing supplies/materials. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

Mostly works with light, easy to handle material. Occasionally may be required to work with moderately heavy equipment/material weighing up to 75 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's degree or higher or equivalent and two years of experience in a teaching environment or work experience in program area assigned or high school graduate and four years of experience in a teaching environment or work experience in program area assigned. Knowledge of computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports and communicate with others. Some instructional areas may require greater degree of knowledge based on instructional programs. Excellent oral and written communication skills to deal effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and varying levels of DCCCD staff. Strong knowledge and experience providing effective customer service. Official transcripts will be required. *Will be subject to a criminal background check.*

Position Specific Qualifications:

Tutoring students in the areas of writing and/or rhetoric. Creating instructional plans for individual students with writing deficiencies. Working with faculty from various academic disciplines to create specific discipline based resources for instructional support (rubrics, well written instructions, examples of good writings, student-based instructional plans, etc.). Identifying and creating writing workshops that can be used as supplemental instruction for students in credit courses or non-course remediation for Developmental students. May conduct test orientation sessions for the college’s placement exam.
