P.O. Box 9020; Tyler, Texas 75711 JOB DESCRIPTION: This is a 12-month live in position for the Ornelas Hall Complex. The complex population includes LLCs, theme floors and TJC athletic team members. The primary responsibility includes tracking the welfare and development of the students and student staff residing in the College’s 450 bed facility. Duties include direct supervision of one (1) resident director (RD), up to ten (10) resident assistants (RAs) and serving on the housing on-call duty rotation. In addition, this position will be responsible for marketing and coordinating summer camps and conferences for the department. The position reports to the assistant director, residential life for the following. 1. Serving as part of the residential life and housing management team. 2. Working with custodial and maintenance staff to ensure building is kept clean and in working order. 3. Working with various College departments to ensure that the needs of the residents are met. 4. Coordinating with the assistant director with resident placement in the Hall. 5. Actively confronting issues and resolving in a timely manner. 6. Serving as a role model for housing student staff members. 7. Performing other duties as assigned by assistant director and director, residential life. REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Counseling or related field preferred. Two to three years of experience in resident hall management. 2. Experience with judicial and crisis case management. 3. Ability to generate solutions, collaborate with others, demonstrate initiative and display personal resiliency. 4. Must be able to communicate effectively in person; in addition to engaging in general telephone assistance. 5. Must be able to work independently, respect confidentiality, and maintain courtesy in dealing with students, faculty, staff and visitors. SALARY RANGE: $21,522-$25,602 plus room* and board. *Furnished apartment with utilities, local phone, internet access and cable; *This is a security sensitive position and a background check will be completed prior to hiring.
