Position Summary: Acts as an internal consultant to administrators, faculty, and staff in the administration of classification and compensation programs and functions; develops and implements HR programs and initiatives; coordinates special HR projects; provides generalist and specialist support in the administration of the classification and compensation systems; maintains the University classification system by conducting position audits, researching documentation, and making formal classification recommendations; develops new and revises existing classifications; conducts classification reviews of major job groups, employee groups, and/or University units; supports the compensation function of the University by designing and conducting salary surveys, analyzing survey results, preparing statistical and narrative reports, and recommending individual pay levels and overall pay structures.

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in human resources administration or a related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in human resources administration, including classification and compensation; experience with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA); experience with data and statistical analysis; experience with project management and/or program development and implementation; experience with total compensation and rewards/programs; experience with word processing, spreadsheet, and database software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Typing Requirements (wpm):

Desired Qualifications: A master's degree in human resources or related field; experience in benefits administration, including analyzing benefit plan designs; ability to analyze complex problems; ability to exercise independent, sound, and defensible judgment; ability to communicate persuasively, both orally and in writing; ability to function with a customer-focused philosophy and with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access software.
