UK CENTER FOR APPLIED ENERGY RESEARCH SEEKS POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER FOR CO2 CAPTURE SOLVENT DEGRADATION AND EMISSIONS MONITORING The University of Kentucky, Center for Applied Energy Research (CAER) anticipates adding a postdoctoral researcher position in the CO2 capture area. The positions primary responsibility will be in solvent degradation, gas phase emissions monitoring and analytical method development with a specific focus on nitrosamines. A summary of the position is listed below: Postdoctoral Scholar The successful candidate will develop test methods to identify and quantify solvent degradation products including nitrosamines as related CO2 capture processes. Other responsibilities will include developing gas phase sampling and analytical methodologies. The position requires a Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering or environmental science from an accredited college or university. Other degrees will be considered assuming relevant experience. Prior experience in amine degradation, gas phase sampling and analytical method development using a variety of instrumentation is highly desirable. The ideal candidate should: · Have demonstrated analytical method development skills using GC, IC and HPLC. · Have experience with Mass Spec (MS) operation and interpretation. · Have gas phase sampling experience using EPA methods. · Possess proficiency with experimental design and execution. · Have creativity and be able to formulate new research ideas and directions. · Be able to work both independently and as a member of a research team. · Have excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to present their work at scientific meetings and to peer-reviewed journals.
