Position Summary: The assistant editor (AE), in cooperation with the executive editor (EE), assists in the management of the editorial and administrative business of World Politics, one of the top-tier political science journals in the world. The AE edits, proofreads, and is otherwise responsible for one to two articles in each issue of the journal. S/he compiles the front matter for each issue and the back matter for the final issue of each volume year. Additionally, the AE: --Works with the EE on the administration of the ScholarOne/Management Central online system; s/he builds and runs reports as requested by editors from ScholarOne data --Oversees the logging and processing of more than 450 submissions to World Politics via ScholarOne --Helps to maintain a database of reviewers for the journal --Answers queries and resolves problems from ScholarOne users/authors --Writes decision letters to submitting authors --Works closely with the EE to meet the production demands of Cambridge University Press --Reviews electronic bluelines --Works with EE to maintain Web site and social media presence --Assists the EE with the organization of monthly editorial meetings per year, preparing all materials as required

Essential Qualifications: Position Requires: The AE must have a bachelor's degree, 3-5 years experience in editing, and facility in managing computer software and databases.

Preferred Qualifications: Preferred: Previous experience in publishing and/or academic editing is desirable. The final candidate will be required to successfully pass a background check. NOTE: This is a part-time (75%) position.
