The Department of Political Science at Hobart and William Smith Colleges invites applications for a one-year full-time position in American Politics beginning Fall 2014; Ph.D. preferred, advanced ABD considered. We are particularly interested in candidates who teach and work on issues related to State and Local Politics and on one or more of the following areas: immigration in the US, political and social behavior, interest group politics and/or health policy. The successful candidate’s work will be informed by theoretical and historical perspectives on questions important to the study of politics. The teaching load is five courses and includes introductory courses in American Politics and a course on State and Local Government. The Department values intellectual diversity and supports a wide range of critical and theoretical approaches that help bring people together across subfields as they address the ever-pressing question of power. The Department also supports interdisciplinarity in teaching and research in keeping with the Colleges’ longstanding emphasis on interdisciplinary liberal arts education.
