College Prep Math Lab Manager, PT (FY14-53)

Job description

The La Plata College Prep Math Lab Manager will oversee the operations of the computer classroom and will assist students with mathematics, supervise lab assistants, maintain secure testing procedures, troubleshoot problems, formulate staffing schedules for approval, track usage, and support faculty, staff, and students while promoting a positive learning environment.

The work schedule for this part-time position is 25 hours per week Monday-Saturday. Hours can be in mornings, afternoons, and/or evenings, and can vary from semester to semester due to Math Lab peak usage times and days. Flexibility is required.

  • Associate Degree preferred
  • Successful completion of 3credits of college-level mathematics courses with grade of "B" or better.
  • Proven organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and management of multiple projects simultaneously, with attention to details and deadlines and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • High level of competency in computer skills, including word processing. spreadsheets and data bases required. Working knowledge of My Math Lab is required.
  • Successful experience tutoring mathematics to a diverse adult student population.
  • Some supervisory experience highly desirable.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of the department and or division.
  • Excellent customer services skills, including the ability to deal tactfully and effectively with students, faculty, staff, and the college administration.
