EXERCISE SCIENCE Instructor/ Assistant STRENGTH & CONDITIONING Coach
NORTHWESTERN COLLEGE (IOWA) has a full-time, 9-month faculty, non-tenure position beginning August 15, 2014. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (75% of the load) will be teaching courses in the Kinesiology Department. Specific instructional duties will include teaching exercise science courses (such as Anatomical Kinesiology, Physiological Adaptions of Exercise, Biomechanics, Principles of Personal Training, or others to be determined); supervision of strength and conditioning practicums and internships; and other assigned academic duties. SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES (25% of the load) will be to serve as the assistant strength and conditioning coach. Specific duties will include assisting the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in the supervision of the athletic strength and conditioning facilities, development and management of strength and conditioning activities for Northwestern College athletic teams (to be determined), and perform other duties as assigned. A completed master’s degree in exercise science or related field is required; candidates with a terminal degree will be given preference. Strong interest in classroom teaching and pedagogical aptitude is required; successful teaching experience is desired. NSCA certification (CSCS) or equivalent is also required along with at least 2 years experience in strength and conditioning, and experience and ability to teach group exercise leadership to athletes and kinesiology students.
