The Department of Mathematics of the City College of New York invites applications for one or two tenure-track positions.  The positions are primarily targeted at the level of Assistant Professor, but outstanding candidates of higher ranks will also be considered.  Starting date is August 30, 2014.

One position is reserved for a research mathematician/statistician working in applied mathematics, probability or statistics.  The research area for the second position is open.  We particularly encourage applicants working in one or more areas of the current departmental research including applied mathematics, differential geometry, dynamics, group theory, logic, number theory, probability and statistics.  Strong candidates in other areas will also be considered.  Duties will include teaching a range of courses at the undergraduate and graduate level.  The successful applicant will be expected to continue an active research program supported in part by external funding.


Ph.D. and at least two years post-doctoral experience in a mathematical research or teaching position are required.  Also needed are significant achievements or outstanding potential in research, and evidence of and commitment to excellence in teaching.


Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
