The Department of Economics at Hunter College, City University of New York ( is seeking to hire a tenure-track or tenured faculty member in Economics with research, teaching, and service responsibilities. The new hire will conduct empirical research in the area of health, education, welfare, demographic economics, or other domestic public policy areas of economics and support programs at the Roosevelt House Public Policy Institute (

Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.


Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent.  Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. Candidates must have a doctoral degree by the start of the appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:  A well-developed research plan and the ability to compete effectively for extramural funding. For candidates beyond the PhD, a well-established publication record and a record of obtaining extramural funding.
