Position Summary: The Environmental Coordinator (EC) shall be responsible for daily management of Asbestos, Lead and PCB Programs; this shall consist of ensuring all EPA and MDEQ regulatory reporting requirements; will be responsible for oversight and updates of surveys conducted by an approved outside contractor and quality control of remediation contractors; will also collect asbestos samples based on assessment for need or as requested; will assist the Bio-Group with mold investigations; will assist in conducting other types of environmental compliance inspections on campus as directed by staff from the Environmental Compliance Office.

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in industrial hygiene, chemistry, or toxicology; two to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in asbestos investigations/management and asbestos surveys; knowledge of asbestos regulations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Typing Requirements (wpm):

Desired Qualifications: Excellent communication skills; current training and state accreditation as an Asbestos Building Inspector, knowledge of aboveground storage tank inspections, NLPCB surveys, and regulations; experience in providing health and safety compliance training; proficient in various computer programs including Microsoft Office programs and digital record management; the following training or certifications would be helpful but not required to be considered for the job: asbestos contractor supervisor, lead inspector, lead risk assessor, and training/certification for mold inspection.

Summary of Health Risks and Physical Demands (if applicable): Duties associated with this position involve wearing a respirator and lifting/carrying testing equipment.
