Varied Work Hours (if applicable): This is a live-in position in an MSU residence hall. Community directors hold office hours and share on-call duty responsibilities with other community directors on campus.

Position Summary: Provides leadership, management, supervision, and development for a residence hall or apartment community; provides high level customer service and creates a community that fosters academic excellence and personal growth for its residents; promotes an inclusive living learning environment and partners with a diverse group of staff, students, and faculty to develop and implement programs that promote the mission of the University; is responsible for following the policies and procedures of Residence Education and Housing Services, Residential and Hospitality Services, and the University; is responsible for a variety of administrative, operational and conferences functions associated with the management of the residence hall/apartment community; provides supervision to the operations coordinator, community support team members, and assistant community directors.

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing one or two years of post-bachelor degree work, such as a master's degree in a human services related field, such as in student personnel, counseling, or a related field; one to three years of full-time related and progressively more responsible or expansive professional experience as a director in a residence hall or apartment community; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications: Demonstrated skills of leadership and communication, maturity, a well-developed sense of responsibility, sensitivity to individual differences, a positive self-concept, an understanding of how to promote student learning and academic success, and an obvious interest and enthusiasm for working with students are desirable characteristics for professional, pre-professional, and paraprofessional team members.
