Associate Dean of Student & Residence Life
The Associate Dean of Student & Residence Life functions as the senior officer for all of the University Residence Life and Housing Operations. Specifically the Associate Dean will direct the work of all Residence Life professionals and lead the processes involved in all housing & dining contracting, room assigning, housing management, and judicial affairs work. Essential Duties: ·Supervision and evaluation of all residence life staff; ·Provide leadership for all housing and dining management processes; ·Establishes procedures to be used by residence life professionals in adjudicating all judicial procedures in accordance with the University's Students Rights and Responsibilities document; ·Responds to emergency situations involving students and/or facilities; Other duties as may be consistent with the position and responsibilities as assigned by the Associate Provost for Student Affairs. Specific Duties: Residence Life ·Coordinates the assignment and supervision of all Residence Hall/Apartment Directors in conducting daily residence life operations. Coordinates the evaluation of all professional and para-professional staff and makes recommendations. ·Supervises the selection of all residence life staff and works with other agencies that provide off-campus housing to LHU students. ·Directs the training programs offered to professional and para-professional staff. ·Supervises and evaluates coordinating areas assigned to residence life staff. ·Coordinates goal formation and collection of evidence for Departmental evaluations and reports. Housing Management ·Develops all communications between the Student & Residence Life Office and students, parents, and other constituents. ·Develops forms and other processes involved in assigning students to residence hall spaces. ·Coordinates all student housing room assignment processes. ·Manages the Adirondack Solutions housing & food service software system for the Department to include developing on-line training programs and designing on-line help fields for students to assist them in navigating the on-line room and meal plan selection processes. ·Defines and advises all housing contract appeals by maintaining a Housing Appeals Board. ·Serves as one of the Student Affairs liaisons to the University Maintenance Department. ·Inspects all residence hall facilities on a regular basis to ensure proper level of maintenance, cleanliness and repair. ·Assists in the implementation of a comprehensive renovation plan for University residence halls. ·Assists with furniture replacement plans for all residence halls. Judicial Affairs ·Reviews annually the University's Students Rights and Responsibilities document to address changes in PA law and /or PASSHE procedures. ·Develops training programs and materials to support residence life staff involved in the judicial process. ·Serves as a University Hearing Officer, and when needed, serves as a University investigator on student issues. Emergency Operations ·Serves as a member of the Weekend "Dean" On-Call professional staff rotation. ·At the request of the Associate Provost for Student Affairs, responds to campus emergency situations. Other Committees ·Serves as advisor to campus organizations. ·Assists with Academic & Student Affairs sponsored programs (e.g. New Student Orientation). ·Serves on campus-wide committees such as: Safety Committee, Freshman Year Experience Committee, Community Advisory Board, Enrollment Management Committee, etc. ·At the direction of the Associate Provost for Student Affairs, serves as search committee chairperson and/or member of search committees as appropriate. Minimum Qualifications (Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities): Master's Degree and 7 years experience in staff supervision, administration of residence hall operations, and administration of housing database software systems. Physical Demands: Must be able to respond to emergency situations when other building facilities may be compromised.
