Position Title: Business Resource Center Lab Manager Position ID: 133706 Salary: $47,273.00-$59,091.00 Location: Miami Dade College, Kendall Campus All applicants must apply online at www.mdc.jobs Job Description: The Business Resource Center Manager (BRC Manager) organizes and controls all aspects of the BRC which is an educational technology environment. The lab handles over 40,000 student/hours per academic year and supervises general workflow, professional customer service and the maintenance of equipment; as well as, quality control, pricing, purchasing of high value equipment and technologies along with running the day-to-day operations of the BRC. Duties & Responsibilities: Manages services and maintains the computers; troubleshoots hardware/software issues for the lab as well as computer classrooms assigned Maintains lab equipment (software updates, imaging hard drives, etc.) and administers lab server Works closely with the Campus Technology Services (CTS) team to research, negotiate, and secure the best prices for BRC equipment and for equipment for the Business Department Monitors student use of the lab and activities paying attention to outages bottlenecks or other issues and makes recommendations to the department chairs for correction Selects, maintains and distributes hard-copy and electronic instructional materials to students Establishes clear communication channels for the area to include systems and strategies to deal with a fast-moving and sometimes unpredictable environment Keeps abreast of new technological developments and helps to improve productivity and improve the teaching and learning environment of the BRC Works closely with the department chairperson in managing and maintaining the budget of the lab including lab fees and conducting lab fee audits, and provides period reports on expenditures and usage of college assets Creates and maintains departmental databases and generates appropriate reports for college-wide School of Business in order to provide feedback on student progress to students, faculty and Department Chairperson Serves as a tutor in limited areas and evaluates the performance of all tutors Supports faculty with the integration of technology into classroom instruction as well as in the content areas in the assessment and diagnosis of student needs as evidenced by their performance Identifies needs for improvement in lab policy, procedure and processes Supervises over ten part-time lab instructors and other staff, includes hiring, scheduling and evaluation, documenting and maintaining payroll records Arranges and implements annual training for lab staff both interdepartmentally and through College Training and Development Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field and five (5) years of experience in classroom and/or lab instructional setting; or Master’s degree in related field and one (1) year of experience in classroom and/or lab instructional setting All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution Knowledge of instructional technologies and strong computer skills Possess excellent organizational and communication skills(verbal and written) Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,technical procedures, or governmental regulations Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions form groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form Ability to supervise, in a manner conducive to full performance and high morale Ability to promote and maintain effective working relationships Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
