Placement Range: $9.20 - $10.00
General Description: The Senior Lifeguard is responsible for performing a variety of duties. The work includes supervising facility as well as staff during assigned hours, providing a constant vigil over patrons participating in assigned areas, rendering first aid, assisting the Head Lifeguard, Maintenance Operator and Aquatic Specialist and Coordinator of Recreation and Fitness in a variety of functions when assigned, instruct Lifeguard Training classes, provide staff direction in the preparation, operation and teardown of special events, performing other similar or related duties as necessary and required, and performing maintenance and custodial duties. An employee in this position has a high risk for occupational exposure to human blood or other potentially infectious materials as a result of the performance of the employee's duties. This is a regular part-time position.
Minimum Education/Experience: Current StarGuard, American Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard Training Certificate or equivalent. Current StarGuard ASHI or American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Lifeguards, American Heart Association, or National Safety Council CPR certificates or equivalent. Current StarGuard, American Red Cross Community First Aid & Safety certificate or equivalent. StarGuard American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification or the ability to obtain the certification within ninety (90) days of being hired.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The ability to set up, troubleshoot, operate and tear down competitive event equipment. Positive human relations and oral communication skills. Conflict management skills. Ability to train, supervise and lead others. Ability to take initiative and complete tasks in a timely manner. Organizational skills. Ability to obtain and maintain advanced level First Aid Certification Ability to follow the established Emergency Action Plan.
