Assistant Director of Academic Advising
Placement Range: $39,700 - $44,000
General Description: The Assistant Director of Academic Advising ensures effective academic advising for all students and is responsible for day-to-day administrative duties associated with that function. Work includes providing academic advisement to students in the Office of Academic Advising, coordinating training and professional development activities and management of the day-to-day administrative operations. This position reports to the Director of Academic Advising.
Minimum Education/Experience: Master's degree in an appropriate discipline, such as, though not limited to, Student Personnel, Higher Education, or Educational Psychology. Three years of successful full time work experience in the area of academic advising or student services related function.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Possess an understanding of academic advising theory and practice. A strong ability to function at a high and effective level within a computerized student interrelated database system, as well as having working knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Internet) applications (or similar software) are needed. Excellent student and customer service orientation with strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills needed to facilitate and resolve problems. Program assessment and planning abilities. Requires the ability to maintain a strict level of confidentiality in the handling of student and employee matters.
