The Associate Director - Systems and Federal/State Programs has joint responsibility for planning, directing, and evaluating the administration of a comprehensive student aid delivery system involving over 45,000 applications and $275 million annually. Provides oversight for the CMS Financial Aid Module (Systems), Federal Loan Program, and Federal/State/Institutional Grant programs. Supervises the Assistant Directors of Systems, Loan Programs, and Grant Programs, as well as the Cal Grant Coordinator. The Associate Director uses project management skills to facilitate operational objectives. Gathers and conducts analysis of statistical data and oversees the required aid data reporting. As a member of the leadership group, assists the Director with Fund Management activities and the development and establishment of policies and procedures for the campus financial aid delivery system. Knowledge of online student information systems (PeopleSoft preferred) and imaging systems. Knowledge of standard financial aid processing systems, applications, and verification procedures. Proven ability to analyze user needs and translate them into detailed specifications. Proven ability to design, develop, implement, and maintain complex technical rules in support of business processes. Demonstrated ability to analyze data requirements and research data availability and access methods. Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and manage staff with full knowledge of personnel policies and practices. Subject matter expertise in financial aid and the tools to automate regulations and processes. Demonstrated ability to coordinate workflow. Demonstrated ability to carry out assignments without detailed instructions. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, peers, and subordinates. Demonstrate ability to exercise good business judgment in the execution of business processes and staff management. Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence." Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field (education, business, social sciences) and a minimum of three years of related experience required. Master's degree preferred. Minimum of five years of related experience strongly desired. Because of the nature of this position, the university requires that the successful candidate complete a felony convictions record check prior to assuming this position. Work Schedule: Full time, 40 Hours Per Week, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm Salary: $4,825 - $7,238 per month based on experience and qualifications This is a management level position with an attractive benefits package, which includes a vacation accrual rate of 16 hours per month, and excellent choice of medical, dental, and vision insurance, long term disability coverage, life insurance, educational fee waiver, and retirement benefits.
