Position Summary:

The Administrative Assistant will support the Business Manager in the daily operations of the department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering and serve as a general resource regarding the department, college and university. The Administrative Assistant will anticipate actions to ensure faculty needs are met on a timely basis; maintain and update information on faculty, staff and graduate students through several databases and software licenses. S/he will assist in arranging all faculty and research staff visits in the department, as well as coordinate activities with the faculty Capstone Coordinator and the Development office relating to the maintenance of the Alumni Jurors database. In collaboration with the Assessment Committee chair, the Administrative Assistant will collect and coordinate all assessment data regarding review and evaluation of program educational objectives, program outcomes and course improvement data from the disciplinary subgroups following the annual faculty retreat. In collaboration with the Associate Chairs, oversee course scheduling, prepare the Self-Study for ABET accreditation and, in collaboration with the Graduate Program Directors, prepare the self-studies for internal/external reviews of graduate programs.


Associate’s degree required, bachelor’s degree preferred with three years of academic administrative experience. Candidate should possess strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage/prioritize multiple projects; excellent interpersonal communication skills, with a focus on customer service to faculty, staff and students. Must have the ability to work with confidential information using good judgment and discretion at all times. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software.
