Visiting Professor of Anthropology

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology invites applications for a one year sabbatical replacement position at the assistant professor level in Cultural Anthropology to begin in September, 2014. A Ph.D. is required, and teaching experience is desired. Areas of teaching are open. The ideal candidate for our Department should be committed to teaching excellence within the liberal arts tradition and be an active scholar whose ongoing research inspires classroom discussion and innovation. Our calendar is composed of two twelve-week semesters and one intensive four-week spring term. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a total of six classes (most likely five total preparations) for a 2-3-1 or 3-2-1 teaching load. Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology Washington and Lee and the Department of Sociology and Anthropology are interested in candidates committed to high standards of scholarship and professional activities, and to the development of a campus climate that supports equality and diversity among its faculty, staff, and students.
