SPELMAN COLLEGE Job Title: ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF THE AFRICAN DIASPORA AND THE WORLD PROGRAM Worksite Location - 350 SPELMAN LANE, SW ATLANTA, GA 30314 Job Duties: Teach courses in the African Diaspora and the World Program. Apply theory in the area of Discourses of the African Diaspora. Serve on campus interdisciplinary committees; assist in First Year Experience, mentor students for prestigious international awards; serve as the advisor for the African Student Association, and develop panel discussions for speakers in the African Diaspora and the World Program. Requirements: Requires a Ph.D., or completion of all coursework and dissertation requirements toward a Ph.D., in English Language and Literature with extensive focus on African Diaspora studies and literary criticism and theory. Must have teaching experience in the following: African Diaspora; The Harlem Renaissance period in African American Studies, Composition, Literature, and Reading Fiction; and American Ethnic Studies. (Experience may be gained prior to completion of Ph.D.)
