Reporting to the Associate Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer, this position will be responsible for the research, project management and outreach to state agencies required to develop and maintain all necessary state authorization requirements for all SNHU programs. The Director will be responsible for coordinating cross functional teams to address, manage and inform regarding state authorization matters throughout the University.

Essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:

  • Maintain comprehensive working knowledge of state and federal education requirements, including processes, procedures, etc. for authorization required to provide SNHU programs in each state

  • Develop a project plan and budget to achieve and maintain all required regulatory authorizations. Develop necessary file structure and workflow for common data elements required by states

  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of university policies, procedures and mechanisms to ensure compliance with state authorization requirements

  • Preparation of applications, forms, and reports required by each state in order to obtain state authorization SNHU programs, state department of education or equivalent approval, and state board of nursing or equivalent approval by

             -Proactively monitoring and assessing state authorization operations,
             -Managing comprehensive schedule of compliance activities including submission deadlines, agent permitting, and annual reports
             -Maintain all records and communications relevant to Academic Compliance and State Authorizations

  • Establish and maintain relationships with state higher education personnel across the United States resulting in positive relations and reputation for state regulatory compliance and expertise

  • Work with units across University to ensure consistency, transparency and understanding of state regulation issues affecting SNHU and its students

  • The Director will assess opportunities and challenges brought on by changes to national and state licensure accreditation requirements and state higher education regulations

  • Participate in the interaction between the University and its accreditor in the maintenance of its regional accreditation and in the development of change requests required

The successful applicant must have:

  • 3-5 years of previous state authorization and licensure experience in a higher education setting

  • Incumbent must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, high attention to detail, the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population, excellent organization and project management skills, effective problem solving and analytical skills, and demonstrated self initiative
