Open-Rank Tenure-Track Faculty, Physics Department
The Physics Department at the University of Massachusetts Boston invites applications and nominations for an open-rank tenure-track appointment in modern aspects of theoretical quantum physics beginning September 1, 2014. Theorists with demonstrated interest in interdisciplinary collaborations are especially invited to apply. This position is part of a continuing rebuilding effort and we seek energetic candidates with independent research programs, who will actively contribute to departmental development, attract external funding, and be committed to innovative teaching. UMass Boston has some new cross-disciplinary computational science initiatives and the department would encourage any new hire to take advantage of these and others at area institutions. Current departmental research includes quantum control & nanomechanics, complex systems and computational physics, quantum chaos & many-body physics, theoretical biophysics and applied statistical mechanics, nonlinear optics & physics, cancer biophysics, semiconductor optoelectronics and new materials. A growing high-performance computing environment is also available. A PhD in Physics is required and post-doctoral experience is strongly desirable.
