Description


High-level administrator responsible for the installation and support of Unified Communications Infrastructure. Advanced knowledge of all core Microsoft Office Communications Server (OCS) features including instant messaging, presence, remote access, federation configuration, high availability, disaster recovery, Enterprise Voice, PBX integration, SIP trunking and/or third party audio, web, and video conferencing solutions and their integration with OCS.

Key Functions and Expected Performances:
  1. Ability to design, implement, and manage VoIP solutions, Microsoft Exchange Unified Messaging, Office Communications Server 2007 (OCS), and Windows Server 2003/2008
    1. Applies knowledge and experience in Unified Communications and Messaging technologies for installation and support of Unified Communication systems with minimal supervision.
    2. Performs configuration, testing, and deployment of all UC server roles and related technologies.
    3. Review and analyze detailed project documentation and requirements documentation to ensure the solution meets the needs of the Vanderbilt community.
    4. Analyze and interpret data captures/logs, process output, and technical information to perform troubleshooting of lab or production environments
    5. Strong technical background in the area of Microsoft Infrastructure, Active Directory, Exchange 2007 messaging, networking, storage, and Windows Server 2003/2008.
  2. Ensures the reliability, availability, security, stability, serviceability and recoverability of the unified communications solutions and encompassing components.
    1. Provides documentation outlining the Unified Communication systems and infrastructure.
    2. Adheres to departmental on-call and escalation procedures.
    3. Ensures compliance to change management and security policies, processes and procedures.
    4. Ensures that the business continuity plan for the unified communication infrastructure is developed and kept to date.
    5. Ensures that all applications within the team's responsibility maintains the most current service packs and patch levels to address vulnerabilities or exploits.
  3. Provide information to others (oral or written) to explain/clarify problems, issues or requests
    1. Provides training to and supports lower-tier technical staff with complex or difficult problems relating to UC.
    2. Apply good time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex tasks at the same time
    3. Tactfully and effectively communicates with subordinates, peers, management and customers.
    4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
  4. Provides technical support and research.
    1. Provides training to and supports lower-tier technical staff with complex or difficult problems relating to UC.
    2. Apply good time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex tasks at the same time
    3. Tactfully and effectively communicates with subordinates, peers, management and customers.

Basic Qualifications


Job requires Associates and 3 years of experience or the equivalent.
