The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is accepting applications for a part-time, post award grants administrator in The Citadel Graduate College office. This position will work with the Office of Grants Administration and Sponsored Programs as its primary task is to ensure that all external grant awards are properly administered and funds are used appropriately. Responsible for post award sponsored administration for the Office of Grants Administration and Sponsored Programs. Administers specialized grant activities; provide recommendations and expert advice to faculty, the administration, or other groups on process-related topics; conducts or implements procedures and activities in accordance with compliance requirements. Ensures that investigators and administrators are aware of updated policies and criteria related to federal and university regulations related to external grant activity. Required to set up awards in financial system as part of awards acceptance process. Will work to define account establishment parameters, including billing and reporting requirements, and verifies compliance approvals (human subjects, cost share, etc.). Conducts regular review, reconciliation and projection of award expenditures, preparing adjustments and corrections to award budgets. Interacts regularly with and provides high quality customer service to investigators conducting sponsored research. Communicates with investigators on a regular basis regarding budget and expense adjustments and revisions (establishment of positions, cost distribution changes, cost transfers, purchasing guidelines) through grant lifecycle. Prepares and distributes monthly financial status reports to investigators that include reconciled actual expenditures and encumbered expenditures for each research grant. Completes financial progress reports to be sent to sponsors as required by the award terms and conditions. Coordinates and submits request for No Cost Extensions, carryover, budgeting requests, changes in scope and other changes to the award; ensuring all requests are done in compliance with sponsor guidelines and college policies. Facilitates the approval of invoices to pay subcontractors, reviews effort reports and assists with labor verification reports, closes out all funded projects consistent with sponsor guidelines and deadlines. Ensures adherence to quality standards and award regulations for all grant awards and stays abreast of regulations, policies and guidelines related to the conduct of sponsored research. Will be required to conducts grant-writing workshops and other training seminars related to external funding. Bachelor's degree with three (3) years’ experience in accounting and/or grant and contract administration or related area OR an Associate's degree with five (5) years’ experience in accounting and/or grant and contract administration or related area. The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills, and will demonstrate the ability to solve problems and issues at the highest levels. Thorough knowledge of pre- and post-award sponsored administration preferred.
