Job Description: Manages the overall operation of the student financial assistance application process. Responsible for the administration of all Harper College gift aid programs including grants and scholarships, Harper endowed, merit, need-based and departmental scholarship. Supervises the "front" desk function that provides effective customer service and advising for current and prospective Harper College students, parents, faculty, and staff.

Duties of Position: Manages the student financial assistance application process. Provides supervisory support, training, and financial aid technical assistance to the Client Services team members. Provides oversight and direction to the Financial Aid Assistants/Client Services. This position will recommend training and professional development and will be responsible for their evaluation and professional growth and development. Responsible for the development and recommendation of OSFA policy relating to providing quality customer service. Once approved by the Director, this position will implement policy and ensure quality customer service. Monitors customer service and responsiveness on the OSFA telephone system. Ensures compliance with all government regulations and institutional policies and procedures as they apply to the gift aid programs. Responsible for maintaining the OSFA website. Manages Harper College Educational Foundation endowment funds to insure accurate and complete awarding and notification to students. Serves as the OSFA staff liaison to the Admission Outreach staff on scholarship initiatives. Supports recruitment efforts of admission outreach staff through follow-up contacts with prospective students who have financial concerns. Assists in the selection of recipients for departmental awards. Assists departments in the administration of departmental scholarships. Counsels students and families with financial aid concerns. Responsible for the performance of all routine financial aid tasks with emphasis on administration of all gift aid programs. Presents financial aid information at outreach activities on campus such as recruitment days on campus, high school presentations, and financial aid awareness month activities. Prepares and submits required reports for gift aid programs such as bi-annual reconciliation for all institutional grant and scholarship programs including the programs offered by the Department of Human Services. Performs need analysis, verification, packaging, award adjustments, and other procedures necessary to deliver financial aid to students. Reviews and updates office policies and procedures manual. Conducts student budget research and prepares student budgets to be used in determining need and packaging financial aid. Performs related duties as assigned.

Education Requirements: Bachelors degree in student personnel education or related area. Masters degree preferred.

Experience Requirements: Minimum three years progressively responsible supervisory experience with an emphasis in project management, relationship management, and have a strong working knowledge of ERP systems. Ellucian BANNER preferred. Excellent verbal and written skills required. Must be a self-starter with high motivation. Able to perform under deadlines. Committed to the values of Harper College.
