ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT FOR FOUNDATION RELATIONS
RESPONSIBILITIES: Play a central role in carrying out the broad functions of private and corporate foundation fundraising including: *Coordinate and facilitate the development of grant requests including writing, editing, or consulting on proposals and ensure that these proposals are submitted in an accurate, compelling and timely fashion. *Proactively seek opportunities to generate proposals based on foundation priorities that result in successful funding for immediate and long-term priorities of the University. *Track proposal activity, update actions and status, and maintain a calendar of grants and reporting timelines, as a full participant in Raiser’s Edge, the Development office database, to ensure coordination and accurate reporting through the prospect management and tracking system. *Manage grant steward processes including writing acknowledgement letters, tracking report deadlines, writing and/or editing required project reports, arrange funder site visits, attend funder events and other related activities to strengthen long-term partnerships. *Work collaboratively with the Development Team to identify potential opportunities and develop effective strategies. *Organize and facilitate meetings and planning sessions with key institutional stakeholders. *Ability to participate as a full-time team member working in close collaboration with institutional leadership and IA colleagues to achieve a successful foundation fundraising program. *Prepare materials for the President and other members of the senior leadership team for meetings and interactions with foundation personnel. *Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Required Qualifications: *Bachelor’s Degree *Minimum five years of progressively advancing fundraising experience in the area foundation relations with substantial demonstrated success. *Strong interpersonal effectiveness, leadership qualities and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. *Ability to work in a team environment with demonstrated skill as a team leader and/or builder. *Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with donor management systems especially Blackboard) desired.
