Position Summary:

The Guest Relations Coordinator is a member of the Customer Engagement Team in the Financial Aid Office with specific responsibility for coordinating the Financial Aid Office's customer contact activities.  The Guest Relations Coordinator has frequent contact with students, administrative staff, deans and faculty members. This position is responsible for providing on-going specialized customer service. In addition, follow through, thorough record keeping, and an understanding of troubleshooting principles along with the ability to ask focused questions are necessary. The Guest Relations Coordinator is cross-trained to assist other areas within the office, including secretarial support, mailroom, and data entry, as needed.

All members of the Financial Aid Office staff must possess excellent oral communication skills, writing, time management, and organizational abilities that demonstrate proactive problem solving and convey a professional and enthusiastic attitude in a culturally diverse environment. Staff members must also possess demonstrated customer service experience that incorporates a global perspective along with a commitment to issues of diversity and the ability to work in a team setting with all levels of management, faculty, and staff.  Financial Aid staff are responsible for providing high quality correspondence, informational materials, and program documentation, may coordinate other financial aid activities/programs within the office and with other departments on campus, and may provide back-up for financial aid colleagues.

Financial Aid staff proactively continue their professional development through resources such as professional publications, listservs, associations, and conferences/training.  As part of the College Enrollment division, additional cross-training in activities within the Financial Aid and Admissions Offices also occur.  Evening and weekend work is sometimes required, especially during the spring awarding/recruiting season.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree and 1-2 years related experience, preferable in a higher education environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Solid computer experience using word processing, spreadsheet, electronic calendar, and email software applications in addition to experience with Microsoft Office or similar products required. Proficiency with PowerFAIDS and/or CSO Interfase preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of financial aid regulations preferred.
