SUMMARY: The Center for Individualized Learning offers the Individualized Degree Program (IDP), credit for prior learning options, and Metro Meritus audit program for older adults. The IDP offers students the opportunity to work with Center advisor's and faculty mentors to design their own majors or minors when their educational goals cannot be met by other degree programs available at MSU Denver. Through the IDP, the Center serves as an incubator for new academic programs. The Center is also responsible for prior learning credit options at the University and is committed to learner-centered education which recognizes and incorporates the goals, experience, and values of the learner, and supports students in their growth as autonomous and self-directed learners. THE INDIVIDUALIZED DEGREE SPECIALIST works directly with students and faculty developing IDP proposals and incubators, interacting regularly with faculty mentors, chairs, and deans in regards to individual student needs and degree programs. Contact with a wide range of other academic and student service areas such as transfer services, advising, and the registrar is required. Externally, the Individualized Degree Specialist interacts with prospective students and members of the community, including employers and community consultants as well as representing the Center at University recruiting functions. This posting will be used to fill 2 positions RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Facilitates the development of student proposals for Individualized Degree Program majors and minors, including collaboration with the student, faculty mentor, advisor(s), chair and when needed, with the student’s community consultant(70%). 2. Provide ongoing problem solving and advising for IDP majors/minors and students referred to the Center for Individualized Learning for assistance (10%). 3. Contribute to program planning, development and assessment for the Individualized Degree Program and special projects that are part of the work of the Center for Individualized Learning (10%). 4. Collaborate with faculty and staff across the University as student, program, and special needs require (10%). *Distribution of responsibilities will depend on the nature of the projects in progress during any given year and may change. QUALIFICATIONS: Required Qualifications: Master’s degree required. Evidence of success in student centered teaching and advising. Demonstrated success working with students and faculty from diverse cultural backgrounds and across disciplines. Knowledge of academic structures in higher education. Outstanding interpersonal and written communication skills. RANK & SALARY: The starting salary range is $ 47,216. The final salary will be commensurate with the selected candidate's education and experience.
