The Keene State College Department of Campus Safety is seeking applications for an Assistant Director of Campus Safety. The Department of Campus Safety is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe and secure environment on the campus of 5,400 students and 700 faculty and staff in southwestern New Hampshire. The City of Keene is a classic picturesque and friendly New England community of 23,000. The campus and the department enjoy a close collaborative relationship with the City of Keene Police and Fire Departments. The Department of Campus Safety is committed to hiring staff interested in serving the campus by helping students, faculty and staff. This position is responsible for the day to day oversight and supervision of campus parking and shuttle operations, administrative oversight of shift and detail scheduling for all Campus Safety and parking operations including payroll, management and scheduling for special events, management and oversight of department resources and providing direct administrative support to the Associate Director and Director of Campus Safety, assuming administrative and command responsibilities in their absence. Responsibilities may include emergency response and management, crime awareness and fire safety education, and other duties as needed. Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field required; five years safety/security experience with at least one year supervisory experience; demonstrated knowledge of Clery, HEOA, FERPA, Title IX, local, state and other federal laws;; experience with scheduling and special events coordination. The successful candidate must be computer literate with a demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook and e-mail. Position requires exceptional written/verbal communication and organizational skills, a willingness to work collaboratively with others and ability to relate to diverse populations. The Assistant Director must maintain CPR/AED and First Aid certification. The position requires the successful applicant to have (or obtain within 3 months) a valid NH driver’s license and have no criminal record. Because of the nature of the work and activity level, the Assistant Director will be part of the on-call rotation and may be required to work evenings and/or weekends depending on campus activity and the needs of the College. Additional Desirable Qualifications: Master’s degree, preferably in college/university setting, 2+ years supervisory experience; understanding and appreciation for student development theory and diversity and the role of safety/security on a college campus. Starting salary is commensurate with experience and education (not to exceed the starting range of low to mid $40’s), complemented by a generous benefit package.
