Under general supervision in the Office of Information Technology the Business Systems Analyst programmer provides technical support to the administrative departments of the University.
•Install and maintains SCT’s (aka Ellucian) software package of Zsupport software on Production, Test, Development and Training System.
•Install and maintains SCT’s software package of Financial Record System on Production, Test, Development and Training Systems, along with interfaces to Student Information System, Human Resource System and other third party systems as required
•Maintain daily, monthly, and yearly cycles for the Financial Record System.
•Create reports for users on Financial Record System, Student Information System, and Human Resources Systems using Focus, COBOL and DCL.
•Learn new applications and business processes, as required, to support interfaces with the Financial systems and the Student System, HR System and other third party applications
•Assist as required to maintain daily, monthly and yearly cycles for all applications
•Learn and provide application support for all administrative applications
•Learn new technologies as required to provide programming, analytical and administrative support for all new software applications
•Programming support for extractions, conversions and upload of data from and to various administrative systems.
This would include migration and documentation of data from our existing SCT Plus environment to new and existing applications
•Provide application and analytical support for the integrations associated with all administrative applications and its related systems
•Provide Business Systems Analysis for the administrative departments. Document processes and their relationships to information systems,
information systems processes and data.
•Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases,
scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis.
•Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details
•Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed:
Functional requirements (Business Requirements Document), Use Cases, GUI, Screen and Interface designs
•Analyzing requirements documents and implementing business functionality in support of the administrative departments and related areas.
•Primary contributor in preparing and maintaining technical documentation for all administrative applications
•Primary contributor in preparing User Documentation, as required.
•Primary contributor in creating test transactions; run tests to find errors and confirm programs meet specifications
•Primary contributor in preparing and maintain test cases and test matrices that reflect automated business processes
•Full system life cycle support of the administrative applications
•Stay abreast of advances in technology.
•Review project plans to plan and coordinate project activity.
•Evaluate the organization's technology use and needs and recommend improvements, such as hardware and software upgrades.
•Prepare and review operational reports or project progress reports.
•Direct daily operations of department, analyzing workflow, establishing priorities, developing standards and setting deadlines.
•Participate in recruiting, hiring and training new staff.
•Manage backup, security and user help systems
•Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues, as required.
•Interface, Collaborate and Communicate effectively with the User Community (Clients).
•Consult with users, management, vendors, and technicians to assess computing needs and system requirements.
•Meet with department heads, managers, supervisors, vendors, and others, to solicit cooperation and resolve problems.
•Provide users with technical support for computer problems.
•Serve on Committees, as required.
•Performs other duties, as assigned.
•Learn new technologies, applications and competencies, as required, to provide business analysis, programming support and technical support to our functional users

Qualifications & Requirements
•Graduation from an accredited university or college with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience
•3 years’ experience programming in Focus, COBOL or similar mid-range/mainframe technology.
•Experience with SCT Plus applications is a strong plus.
•Experience in preparing system documentation, performing systems analysis and performing application testing is a strong plus.
Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute the indicated experience on year for year basis. (30 credit hours is considered one year of college).
Salary Range Commensurate with experience
